How do I Uninstall Windows Security Defender?
It is the Most Irritating software EVER! It somehow got onto my Computer through means unknown, and gives me a Pop-up every two seconds, that I have like 500 Viruses and Malware etc, but I know it is not true, because I scan my Computer regularly, and I have no Viruses. How do I delete it? If you know, can you give me the File Directory so I can Annihilate it.
Well I think you have a virus but I do not suggest doing what either one of the prior answers say.
DO NOT DELETE USER ACCOUNT!
If you delete your user account you will not only lose the ability to access all programs in that account but you could also lose updates, drivers and very important settings or configurations, etc.
The other answer named a site to “kill” the process – but that’s only good if there wasn’t anything wrong with your PC and it does sound like you have a virus -Windows Defender is a Spyware/Adware remover – it definitely shouldn’t be popping up like that.
First go to www.cnet.com and look for a good antivirus/antimalware product. There are many free AV programs that should do the trick and you can read the reviews to decide. Then download the one you choose but don’t install it. Save it to your desktop.
Then turn off your pc or log off. Then turn on or log back on in SAFE MODE – press and hold F8 key to get there.
once you’re in SAFE MODE then you can install the new AV program – then immediately scan your PC. hopefully this will do the trick and take care of the nasty virus or trojan that you have and you can log back on in regular mode with your user account intact.
If you still have a problem then go to http://free.antivirus.com/hijackthis/
using same steps as above. You’ll need to save the log file from this scan and take it to any tech site and ask for help with it. Using hijackthis is not the type of program that anyone can just scan the problem is completely fixed. It takes a person that really understands how to read the log file and follow its instructions.
hijackthis will not only remove the virus but it will tell you what got changed or damaged while it was on your pc and it tells you how to fix it.
Be sure to disable any other antivirus programs while you’re installing any new one. You probably shouldn’t mess with the Windows Defender disable button because it most likely will not work. After the virus is gone you can uninstall it by going to the .exe file and right clicking, choose uninstall OR look for the uninstall icon inside the .exe folder. Good Luck
